It has already been said that postcard printing has its advantages and disadvantages, and you probably already know about some of these pros and cons. You would need to know these, after all, if you want to be able to fully understand the full color postcards, photo postcards, and the other types of custom postcards you use for your marketing strategy. Thus, in an effort to add to your
knowledge on cheap postcards and all of the other postcards along with it, here are more disadvantages and nuisances to take into consideration for the next time you are thinking of asking your commercial printing company to produce some postcards.
Postcards rely on a good mailing service. Actually, this one can either be a good thing or a bad thing, but as a disadvantage, it is not really ideal for the success of your commercial print to be dependent on whether or not your mailing service can properly deliver the products to your customers or not. This adds another layer of concern which you would not need to worry about when it comes to postcards, bookmarks, flyers, business cards, and all of the other types of commercial printing products. Simply put, you have more to keep in mind when it comes to postcards because your responsibility does not end with the successful production of your prints. In general, though, this is usually a perfectly acceptable disadvantage which can be easily remedied by making sure you partner yourself with an equally reliable mailing service.
Extra cost. In a sense, postcards are cheaper than other commercial printing products because of their smaller size. However, there are times when postcards can pile on the charges as well because of the extra costs of having your postcards delivered to each and every person in your mailing list. This is actually just a matter of proper budgeting and forecasting, so it is not such a big problem. The real disadvantage is not whether or not
quality postcard printing is more expensive or less expensive; the disadvantage is that it can be a hassle sometimes keeping track of the added expenses when it comes to postcard printing.
No personal interaction. Good rapport is hard to build when you are talking to a potential customer or client face to face, and it is even harder when you are trying to forge relationships through a single piece of card you sent through the mail. Thus, this is one aspect where postcard printing is once again lacking, but really this is a disadvantage for a number of other commercial printing products as well. Perhaps the best thing to say is that nothing can replace the personal interaction between a good salesman and a willing customer.
Surely there are still advantages which would balance out these added disadvantages of postcard printing listed above. For now though, you must keep these in mind and understand the circumstances behind each of these disadvantages. Presenting you with this list is not meant to discourage you from mailing postcards, but rather to help you understand and avoid making grave mistakes with your commercial printing.
